Frequently Asked Questions:

Can the 140th help with our living history weekend or re-enactment event?

Every January the 140th PVI sets up it's calendar of events. We make every attempt to include as many events as possible, but time does not always permit us to do so. If there is an event that you would like the 140th to consider, please write to us at 140th PA Vol., P.O. Box 410 Mount Morris, PA 15349.

Is the 140th available for school visits?

The 140th PVI does do school visits. Please contact us as far in advance as possible, as our calendar fills up quickly. For a school visit, we do need written permission from both the school's principal and the school board. These letters are essential, especially if you wish us to bring our muskets and other firearms.

Who and why do people become re-enactors?

Re-enacting is not just a hobby for men. Nor are men restricted to portraying military personal. Several men prefer the role of a politician or civilian. There are also a wide variety of impressions and activities for women and children. All re-enactors have a common love for history, in particular the era surrounding the American Civil War.
For men, it gives them the chance to "play guns" again, and for women, the opportunity to play "dress up." Children are given a hands-on history class.

How can I join the 140th?

The 140th meets the second Wednesday of every month at the Waynesburg College Museum. Our dues are $28 for the year, or $7 a quarter. Please do not hesitate to talk with a member of the 140th this weekend about the cost of uniforms and equipment. We are always looking for dedicated men to fill the proud ranks of the 140th PVI.
